Dr. Mustafa Abbas is a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Burjeel Medical City. He possesses impressive qualifications and certifications, including the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR), which he obtained in October 2022. He also holds a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Interventional Radiology, received in August 2020.
Dr. Abbas is skilled in a wide range of interventional radiology procedures, with particular expertise in emergency and elective vascular procedures. This includes embolization for trauma, gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, and bronchial bleeding. He is also proficient in peripheral angioplasty and stenting for peripheral vascular disease. Furthermore, he is adept at fistula work, encompassing angioplasty, stenting, and declotting.
Additionally, Dr. Abbas has experience in managing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) through thrombolysis and declotting. He is also skilled in IVC filter insertion and retrieval. Moreover, he expertly performs central venous access procedures such as Porta Cath, Hickman lines, and PICC line insertions.
His expertise extends to various aortic procedures, including TEVAR (thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair), EVAR (endovascular aneurysm repair), and CERAB (chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency angioplasty and stenting). Dr. Abbas is also skilled in mesenteric and renal artery stenting, as well as pulmonary artery angiograms and thrombolysis. He is also proficient in TIPS (transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt) placement and transjugular liver biopsies.
Dr. Abbas has experience in specialized procedures such as uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), varicocele embolization, pelvic venous congestion treatment, and varicose vein treatment. He also performs PAVM (pulmonary arteriovenous malformation) treatment and TACE (transarterial chemoembolization). Furthermore, he has some experience with carotid artery stenting.
Before joining Burjeel Medical City, Dr. Abbas worked as a Vascular Interventional Radiology Consultant at STH (likely an abbreviation for a hospital) and was an IR fellow at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STH).
